A golden voice fell silent yesterday at T Nagar, Chennai and Kailasa would have happily welcomed a realized Jiva on MahaShivaratri day.
This decades long devotee of Kanchi Paramacharya, Sri rA. Ganapathy would have become immortal just for his voluminous biography of the Sage of Kanchi,which Tamil knowing followers around the world recognize as the many volumes of Deivaththin Kural (Voice of God). But he also wrote several other books on Sri Ganesa, Ma Shakti, Sri Hanuman and other aspects of the Infinite and several smaller books on Paramacharya himself. He lived to a ripe old age as a Brahmachari and met like-minded friends for spiritual discourse till he became very ill. In spite of his illness, just about 10 days ago, he agreed to meet my good friend Sri Narayanan of Palghat, who has done a large number of pencil sketches and paintings of The Kanchi Maha Periyava in a number of involuntary poses.
That first meeting between kindred devotees of the Paramacharya was destined to be the only one. When Sri Narayanan spoke to me this morning on the telephone from Palghat, his voice carried mixed emotions!
