"The Earth today is in imminent danger ".. those are not just the words of eco-warriors any more but the considered opinion of most eminent scientists studying climate change and it's effects. It is becoming increasingly obvious that nothing short of a complete planetary level Global rescue will save it from an environmental cataclysm of dangerous climate change induced by human growth. The evidence is all around one, if one's eyes are open.
It is time we stopped the heedless pillage and plunder of Mother Earth's finite resources and learned to live in harmony and balance with Her. We owe it to our future generations. Paraphrasing from the Native American proverb - "We do not just inherit the earth from our ancestors, we also borrow it from our children."
The first step to that, is Education in 'Bhoomi Dharma'
(the Dharma -right thing to do, for Bhoomi -Mother Nature)
This section features environmental issues: from sustainable development, to global warming, alongwith other current issues that affect all of us - from what we do, to what we don't do and what we should be, and should Not be doing!!

- There is not one drop of Natural Fresh River Water in River Yamuna in Delhi & Beyond.
- Almost 97% of Original River Waters are taken away from River Yamuna, only a few kilometers from its birthplace - Yamnotri.
- What flows in Mathura – Vrindavan is simply filthy and heavily polluted sewage from Shahdra Drain of Delhi, polluted Hindon and other smaller wastewater drains.
- No amount of treatment can bring the qualities of Fresh natural water in a river. The river needs dilution capacity – minimum ecological flow at all costs. Any river does.
- Despite of Supreme Courts approved High Powered Committee’s directives, the minimum adequate flow of Natural Fresh Waters is not being allowed to flow in River Yamuna.
- Millions of religious/spiritual tourist visits the temple towns on River Yamuna every year. It is a shame that they are duped into bathing and drinking the filthiest of waters as none of them realize that it is only poisonous sewage. Their spiritual emotions and faith are being hoodwinked.
We stand for bringing Back River Yamuna to its people, wildlife and ecology.
Take YOUR stand for River Yamuna.
Ask for Adequate natural fresh waters to flow through the entire stretch of Yamuna River. This shall dilute its uncontrolled pollution and bring back the original river back to its people, wildlife and ecology.
Sign your online petition which shall make the difference!

Note from the Editor: Organizing the "Save the Planet" contest had its share of challenges and rewards. Learning Bee supported the contest from the conception. Learning Bee did a wonderful task of disseminating the concept of the contest topic; How to build Sustainable communities. Here is a baseline document that Learning Bee shared with Medhavis, used for various grade levels regarding the broad subject on "sustainable communities". For the younger grades, Learning Bee had to tone down the information a lot and get to very specifics in order to have them come up with concrete ideas. However, they all got the discussion on how this initiative can impact ways of living as a whole. Contest was a wonderful way to educate young minds and start them thinking on important topics such as smart living to save the Mother Earth! Each grade level teachers gave their own "spin" to the subject that's tailored to the group of audience in each classroom.

Earth Day is this Wednesday, and from the celebration of all things “green” in San Francisco, I knew I had arrived at the right place for a week of vacation. In order to reduce our carbon footprint this year, we had decided not to fly to exotic destinations for our spring break but instead drive up to the city from the south Bay, about a 45 minute drive.

T
he effects of climate change are already being felt by natural systems in many places. Glaciers in both the northern and southern hemispheres are shrinking, permafrost is thawing, growing seasons are lengthening and animals are shifting their ranges to higher and cooler ground.

The climate is changing. The earth is warming up, and there is now overwhelming scientific consensus that it is happening, and human-induced. With global warming on the increase and species and their habitats on the decrease, chances for ecosystems to adapt naturally are diminishing. Many agree that climate change may be one of the greatest threats facing the planet. Recent years show increasing temperatures in various regions, and/or increasing extremities in weather patterns. This 3-part article looks at (1) what causes climate change, (2) what the impacts are and (3) what we can do to mitigate it.
