This documentary follows the life of a 29-yo white male from New York, as he immerses himself into a "Yogic" lifestyle.

This is a telling commentary on the state of Yoga in the West (especially The US) and while it reveals the shallowness and superficiality of a lot of Western "Teachers" and "Yogis" and "Yoginis", it also brings for some shining examples of good Yoga teachers in the West (such as Dharma Mittra and Allan Normal).

The subject of this study travels from mainland US to Hawaii and thenceforth to India where he studies with Late Sri Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, with Sri BKS Iyengar in Pune and also spends time in Brindavan, trying to understand Bhakti Yoga. In all, the documentary has been very nicely done, poignant at times in it's deep introspection and superficially crass in it's lack of depth at other times. But that is the state of most beginners in the path of Yoga. The nice thing is that the subject and his director (who hovers in the middle-ground constantly) both show respect for Yoga and a genuine thirst for Yogic knowledge.

I give it Five stars!
