Asha for Education, is a non-profit volunteer group that believes education is empowerment and works towards catalyzing socio-economic change in India through the medium of education. The Stanford Chapter of Asha is hosting its annual fundraiser as the celebration of Holi, the Indian Spring festival of color on March 27th 2010 at Sandhill Fields on the Stanford campus. This event has been the Bay Area's largest Holi celebration in yesteryears and is expected to attract
about 5,000 individuals. All net proceeds will benefit Asha Stanford's education projects in India. All Asha Stanford projects are strictly secular and non-discriminatory and great priority is afforded to schools in rural and as-yet-untouched areas. Asha Stanford currently supports 11 projects across 6 States and 2,200 students annually.
Holi heralds the onset of spring and the celebration of good harvests. This celebration of Mother Nature’s bounty unites all her partakers of different castes, creed and economic barriers. While Holi is an ancient festival, it is celebrated even today throughout India in parks, town squares and other public spaces where large crowds gather to play to the accompaniment of folk music. Traditionally, fellow revelers would greet each other with Gulal, the pink/red colored powder and shower each other with Gulal colored water. But now the celebration involves a riotous hue of colors as if mirroring the spring colors of Mother Nature.
Asha Stanford creates the same magic and revelry in its event at Stanford with a rainbow of colors, water, popular Bollywood and Indian folk music and Indian food for the enjoyment of Bay Area professionals, families and students. It is a day to shed inhibitions and indulge in carefree fun and frolic with your loved ones. Your participation in our celebration will make a difference in the lives of hundreds of underprivileged children in India and bring some color to their lives.

Why do we dissect this much? Only to expose the underlying ideology and people behind such hideous organization. I have distanced from ASHA ever since it's association with AID and such "secular" ( read anti-Hindu, anti-India ) organisations were exposed few years back. Any India lover should sincerely read the following link and come to a well-reasoned judgement.

I know there are many naive followers of ASHA ignorant of this evil, I just pray that they realise their mistakes sooner than later. Unless of course they just want to - shed inhibitions and indulge in carefree fun and frolic - without a thought to funding terrorism, secessionism in India.
