Do I have anything of My Own to offer YOU?

This is my Floral Offering at the lotus feet of the Creator of every entity from Atom to Atman

When I eulogize YOUR Glories, I forget that,
The thoughts, the words, the voice are YOURS, not mine!

When I offer beautiful flowers to YOU, I forget that,
They are all YOUR creations, I plucked them from YOUR garden!

When I offer money at YOUR feet, I forget that,
YOU are the only owner of all the riches in this world!

When I torture my body with penance to please YOU, I forget that,
It is YOUR temple, YOUR abode that I am abusing!

But, I do not extend my lust & desires to YOU to get rid of them, So as to clean my body, mind & spirit;

I do not extend my anger & fury to YOU to get rid of them, So as to clean my body, mind & spirit;

I do not extend my conceit & insanity to YOU to get rid of them, So as to clean my body, mind & spirit;

I do not extend my envy & rivalry to YOU to get rid of them, So as to clean my body, mind & spirit;

I do not extend my greed and avarice to YOU to get rid of them,
So as to clean my body, mind & spirit;

I only offer YOU what I pretend to have, not what I honestly have!

Because, I am a naughty child, who wants to play in his Father’s lap,

But refuse to remove all muck, dirt & mess from his body, mind & spirit.

Dear Dr Kartha
Beautiful poem.
On pongal day [ Makara Sankranthi] a deepa-aradhana is shown to the Sun -while acknowledging mentally that the jyothi came from him.
When I torture my body with penance to please YOU, I forget that,
It is YOUR temple, YOUR abode that I am abusing!

Yes, the concept that or body is a temple is a valuble one.
Ayurveda as upa Veda is a sort of maintenance manual for this temple.
Dear Partha
Thanks for the information on daily prayers.
Warm regards

Dear Partha Ji,
Thanks a lot for that interesting comment, for its interesting observations.
However, if one can achieve the state I was dreaming about in the poem, nothing else matters.
Regards
Kartha

Revealing!

Very profound and revealing dear Doctor.
As you know, our brahmacharis and grihasthas are required to do prayaschitta three times every day for daily wrongdoings by offering water oblation respectively to Surya as jyoti within us during morning prayers, Aapah namely sacred waters present inside us during noon prayers and Agni as jyoti within us during evening prayers.
Annually once during Upakarma, they do a kamokarshit-manyurakarshit japa in which they repeat the admission of having been lustful and angry a number of times in the year past and atoning for it. A lot of initiates do not practise these rituals, and a lot who do, practise them mechanically, merely as rituals.
Your poem is therefore all the more welcome, with its message ringing clear!
Regards. Partha.
